Blah blah blah. Does anyone even read this? Welllll, I stopped in at the 401 this early afternoon for my breakfast, much deserved after cleaning someone else's house. Nothing builds an appetite more than cleaning up other people's toilets, whoa nelly, lemme tell you.
actually, no, let me not. So I spied this place the other day before they were officially open and wondered what it was gonna be about and I found out today. It's all about breakfast. After having to wait quite some time(new restaurant and all) I got a seat in at the counter(which was open all along-who knows why they couldn't sit me there asap, as i was the only one dining by my lonesome)and was handed a menu. There was a special that looked mighty fine(duck confit hash!) but i decided to go with something mellower and ordered "the ritual"-which you can guess includes, toast, potatoes, eggs, and meat(or non meat if you so choose), the meat option could be house made sausage patties, bacon, ham or a veggie sausage. I went with the real sausage and did not regret it. The potatoes were spot on and my eggs, over medium, were cooked well. The toast was also tasty.
I think they comped me my coffee which was nice since they made me wait for no real reason. I also got a grapefruit juice which was pretty tasty. I'd go back some day, as long as I'm not in a rush or with a large group-the biggest seating they have available is booths that could sit 6 at most-but 4 more comfortably.
Their dishwasher is British and made some impersonation of an American requesting butter. I guess that can be seen as mildly amusing, if you are bored. So...pros: good food, British dishwasher, you might get free coffee
Cons: waiting, small, having to ask for things-like butter, the bathroom soap was pretty much all the way out.
All in all I was happy to get to be part of the crowd experiencing a new place in its first week or so of business.

today: hungover! lots of water after stumbling out of bed, rode to work and had orange juice, more water and 2 packets of some instant oatmeal.
to help somehwat stave off the hangover last night i got aburriot form Javier's which i hardly remember eating. Oh the joys of drinking.
So i had my last final of the term yesterday and I walked by a bar downtown I'd never noticed though apparently its been there for a year?I ride by it on my way to school but never saw it.i think its called Bailey's Tap rRoom. they have lots of good beers on tap and i had the deschutes hop henge 2. very tasty imperial ipa. well I had like 3 or 4 of them and somehow I was still functioning.
Earlier in the day I'd met up with my lovely amiga Brittney for lunch at Clyde Common where I had a very tasty fried chicken sandwhich with collard greens, fries(they have really tasty fries) 2 bourbon cocktails and 2 ninkasi ipas. this is perhaps not the best pre final taking strategy but it worked well enough...
Today's lunch consisted of half of a pbj and some canteloupe, I wasn't feeling well and couldn't eat much but I'm gonna finish it off later.
I went to breakfast at Gravy the other day with my friend Rebecca and neither one of us was too impressed with our food. I got a bacon and swiss omelette and hashbrowns-the servings were enourmous but the food just wasn't that hot. My bacon tasted charred and while I don't mind that too much it wasn't the greatest. I had hoped that since the last time I was there
which was wel over ayear ago they would've improved but sadly this was not the case. I've been there 3-4 times now and its just never been good, so its off the list permanently-unless i hear about some great cook taking over.
Speaking of Rebecca works at Toro Bravo and I still haven't even gone to check it out, I've read rave reiviews so I don't know what is taking me so long to go there. Probably the money fcactor, but I'm eager to try it out soonish.
I watched Ratatouille today and I'm hankering to start cooking again.
