i've been pretty damn lazy about cooking recently, the most i've really done is make countless pots of tea in order to keep warm, and i made some egg and cheese english muffins for breakfast yesterday.
frying eggs and boiling water...ahhh, what skills!
today i had a nutrigrain bar for breakfast when i got to work, no time for anything before i left. then i had a couple cups of coffee to tide me over. i indulged at lunch and went to jade in sellwood with the juninator and her mama, samantha. i bought samantha a ginger cookie-she had soup already and wasn't interested in a high fallutin lunch, but i was so i ordered a chicken and mango dish served with rice. it was quite scrumptious. i got the go ahead to let june try soem rice and plain she was not interested in it but with some sauce she was totally into it, and of course she loves mango so i gave her a few bitesw, but not much cos i was footing the bill afterall. even if you are an adorable baby i prefer to eat my own lunch without your help of the yummy fruit delacacies...i also ordered a pork hum bao, because they are delicious, and an eclair for desert-which i took to go.
before lunch i got a decaf double americano from ugly mug, mostly because i just craved the espresso taste.
also befor lunch i dropped off my bike at sellwood to get soem new brake pads,as the ones on the bike had seen much better days...and i missed a call from ole jeremiah swanson informing me that i also needed a new bottom bracket and would i like to get one? jeremiah tries to keep me alive in my bike, and i like that about him, so i returned the call and got to chat with erik about how yes i would indeed like a new bb.
did you guys see this month's issue of bicycling? my beloved bike mechanics are all famous in it and shit. pfft. what can i say? i have good taste.
when june and i returned to the shop to get the bike it turned out that jeremiah had also discovered that i would need new brake levers eventually as one of the springs had vanished...hence why i have had difficulty with good braking, apparently. and since that meant new cables and housing that also meant new bar tape. jeremiah decided i needed to mix it up and told me i couldn't get gray again. i spied a nice kelly green and decided to get it to celebrate st. patrick's day. why skip to the next holiday when you can skip to the 2nd next holiday? the zinn has already had pink bartape, and though i thought it looked handsome with the gray i think green will be nice, too. anyhow due to all the stuff that now had to be done to make my bike not be a death trap i had to leave it overnight. june fell asleep while we were there, she is more a cyclocross sorta baby vs. a hanging out at the bike shop deciding on bar tape sorta baby.
after saying farewell to the fellas we hopped the bus downtown so i could pick up my new glasses and then we swung by the bta to say hi to tom, and let all his coworkers adore june for a few moments. who needs movie stars when there are cute babies to hang out with? indeed!
we had to jump back on the bus to beat rush hour and june dined on banana and cheerios as we made our way back to se. she was very talkative on th ebus and enjoyed growling at the other riders and doing her "squishy face"which involves smiling and wrinking up her nose in what passes for the cutest thing ever. its sickening how babies can be so cute.just who do they think they are?
back at the house she ate some more banana and carrots and i finished my lunch leftovers before brewing up some blue flower earl grey tea. its quite delectable and hours later at my house i have made another pot to help see me through the writing of a paper on an Antonioni film. ugh.
I picked up dinner to go from la sirenita-a chicken quesadilla with sourcream and guacamole and two fish tacos. i had an horchata while i was there as well.
i have plenty of homework and a full belly. its going to be difficult to say awake. ..
